September 2026: More flexible portfolio configuration, scenario-independent calculations, and richer API visibility

September’s release makes Slope more flexible for projection portfolio configuration, improve performance for large-scale projections, and provide greater visibility through new API capabilities. The updates also add clearer guidance throughout the modeling workflow and strengthen reliability across projections and model configuration.

New Features

Portfolio-level output groupings in projections

When configuring a projection, users can set Product Output Groupings once at the portfolio level and apply them automatically to products within that portfolio, including products introduced through investment strategies or new-business allocations. Product-specific additions and removals remain available when more granular control is needed.

Scenario-independent calculations: global company variables

Slope now separates scenario-independent and scenario-dependent work for global company variables where possible, calculating scenario-independent global company variables once and re-evaluating dependencies after global variables are run. This is the first step in broader optimization across all variable levels; as this work continues, clients should see ongoing improvements in run performance.

Enhancements

Boolean asset grouping variables

Investment Strategy constraints and pro-rata rule filters now support Boolean variables as Asset Grouping Variables. When applicable, users can select True or False directly from a dropdown.

Portfolio results for future time periods in HPM

HPM projections now support portfolio-level output for future time periods. When selected, eligible results are included on the Portfolios tab of the Projection Run Summary workbook without requiring all results to be output.

New projection portfolio and product API endpoints

API users can now retrieve the portfolios configured on a projection and the products within a selected portfolio. Both endpoints support pagination and field filtering, making it easier to inspect projection configuration programmatically.

Clearer feedback for array aggregations in Debug View

Debug View now explains when a formula’s result cannot be represented as a single value because it depends on multiple array index values. An information icon provides additional context when users hover over the message.

Unsaved Table Editor change warnings

Users are now warned before navigating away from a table with unsaved changes, helping preserve work when switching models, tables, or other application areas.

Improved Goal Seek error visibility

Goal Seek formulas now display an error indicator when an issue exists in a hidden settings field. Users can hover over the indicator for additional context and see the relevant setting-level warning when editing the formula.

Faster Constant formula entry

After adding a Constant formula through the Formula Wheel, the Value field is now focused automatically so users can begin entering a value immediately.

Clearer workbook upload feedback

Users now receive a clear message when attempting to upload a password-protected Excel workbook, rather than waiting indefinitely for the upload to complete.

Fixes

  • File-only data tables are now more resilient to intermittent loading interruptions during large projections.
  • Projections using range arrays now handle variable calculation ordering more reliably.
  • Product variables that reference portfolio variables using Product Output Grouping arrays now calculate as expected without an incorrect validation error.
  • Projection Documentation now loads correctly when opened from a shared Debug link.
  • Calculations are more reliable when all products in an output grouping mature before the end of the projection.
  • Edit Array warnings now include all dependent variables that may be affected by an array source change.
  • Projection statuses now update correctly when a scenario cannot complete, making it easier to identify and rerun affected scenarios.
  • Scenario file uploads now provide a specific message when the selected file type is unsupported.
  • Virtual folder names containing special characters now display correctly.
